In 2014, the first year of the Looking at Appalachia project, we received over 3,000 submissions. Our editorial team selected nearly 300 of those works to be included in our online collection. From there, we selected 72 photographs (below) to be featured in the project's very first print exhibit, which was shown in six states over four years.
