Pat Jarrett. April 1, 2014. My grandfather, being laid to rest, grew up on Mount Savage, near Frostburg, Maryland in Allegany County. His grandparents came to the US from Wales and England and moved to Akron, Ohio in around 1920, near the beginning of the so-called hillbilly highway-a major period of migration from Appalachia to industrial centers like Akron in the north. He always considered himself a product of the mountains, I think my love of bluegrass comes from listening to the music playing out of his clock radio in the garage.
