Pat Jarrett. November 1, 2015. Olin Bare is a Confederate Civil War reenactor and a member of the so-called Stonewall Jackson Birthday Club. Members of this vanishing club were born in Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's house in Lexington, Virginia when it was the city hospital. Bare said Jackson has been a hero of his since he was a boy. Here, Bare is photographed on his horse Elite, a Civil-War era breed, at his Lexington home.

Members of the Virginia Flaggers, the group in Richmond who erected a Confederate Flag on private land near Interstate 95, attended Lee-Jackson day to protest Lexington's rules about not displaying the Confederate flag on public property. Hundreds lined the streets of Lexington, Virginia for a parade and a ceremony at Lee Chapel in honor of Gens. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson and Robert E. Lee.
